Dining Nook? Ya, we roll like that.

So, our dining nook was probably my least favourite room in the house.
It was sooo fugly.
4 layers of flooring.
wierd half wallpaper hanging off the wall.
Plaster was in pretty bad shape.
Soooo Here is what I mean.

Apparently back in the day they used to paint beautiful hardwoods ugly colors. Thanks, guys. 'Preciate it. 

Doesn't matter much now, as we have gigantic dogs who would destroy it anyways, so we bought some indestructible laminate flooring for now, untill we can refinish & enjoy them years and years down the road.

These pictures were on clearance for ten bucks at winners. and the lamps were on sale! $45 for both! Steal.

Tada! Just need a light fixture.. but thats VERY low on the priority list :) 

It's been awhile...

It's been awhile! We took the blog down for awhile to focus on other things like... Getting married!
(you can see pictures on my picasa album Here on my WebAlbum :) ) Things are starting to really settle in. We have our bedroom upstairs, and walls are set to go up in a few weeks. Exciting!

The main floor is just about finished. We still have to paint the trim, and we have to pick a lot of accessories and art.. (not overly high on our priority list) but it's really coming along! Let's start with the kitchen since that's where I've last left things.

Unfortunately I couldn't find a backsplash that I like.. (due to my serious distaste for tile) but paintable wallpaper will have to do for now. It looks good enough for me!

Onto the other side of the room.
   Here is our dining nook. (Opposite our kitchen.) It was fairly dreadful. The  plaster needed a ton of repair, there was about 4 layers of flooring *thank you thank you thank you Johnny* and about a kajillion nails *thankyou thankyou again Johnny*
